Week 2: DON’T LIVE IN THE PAST OR WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW

God gives each Christian a certain lifespan and an opportunity to use it. We must use the time and opportunities that we have been given to be good Christians and to spread the Good News, which we have received.
During our lifetime we must also care for others and for the earth. We have been given time to do our share in the Church of the Lord Jesus. The time belongs to God and He gives each person as much of it as he decides to. Some people receive a longer time and others live a shorter life.

Nobody knows how long he/she will live. On a certain day a  person’s time is over. Then the great question will be what did I do with my time and my opportunities?
Each person should use this time with wisdom. We have to give time to our daily work; we must give time to our neighbours as well as members of our families, not forgetting friends and co-workers. We must use every day of our life in the best possible way.

It is important to have a special time of prayer and Bible study every day. This is the secret of a Christian’s strength. In the Bible we get to know what God wants us to do. We also learn how to share the Good News with others.
Time which has passed, is gone forever and can never be used again. Yet many people think back about the things that happened in the past. Others worry about the mistakes that they made. This hinders them from using the present time correctly.

We must use the past correctly so that we can learn from our mistakes and experiences, in order to work better in the present time. The past must not hinder me today and tomorrow. Sometimes we never think about the future, we only live for today. We do not plan or make provision for the future and this is a great mistake. Other people fear the future and they are so worried about the things, which may happen that they cannot work properly today. This is wrong.

A Christian must think of the future and he/she must plan well, he/she must have a plan about how to do his/her work successfully. He/she must plan for the future of his/her family because if he/she neglects to plan, the opportunities will come and pass by, unused and unnoticed.

The most important thing is to understand what God’s plan is with my life. Only then I can be able to recognise and use the opportunities God gives me. I can only use this time that I have today.   Christ says that we should not worry about tomorrow, so let it be. (Matthew 6:34)
