" The spirit of Africa"
This was the theme of our beautiful event we hosted to celebrate Heritage Day as an organisation. The aim of the event was to educate ourselves and others of our different and diverse cultures within South Africa. All the people who attended this event came in their different cultural attire proudly displaying who they are and what they stand for.

"The spirit of Africa" was the theme for the event as it was a day not only to celebrate our different cultures but to also appreciate the diversity of our continent that brings us all together as Africans. Within the event, we held a contest which was titled "Clash of the Cultures 2014" in which the different cultures showcased their uniqueness through their singing and dancing, food and a brief history of where they come from. Amongst the contestants of this challenge, where the Southern Sotho, Zulu and Xhosa cultural groups.

All cultural groups performed and proudly showed why their cultures are unique. The Southern Sotho group took the 3rd position, while the Xhosa group took the 2nd position. The winners for the day was the Zulu group who won the title of "Clash of the Cultures 2014". Each group walked away with a trophy as a prize for their achievement.

Within this event, our group performed different types of dances that included traditional dances (Southern Sotho, Zulu and Xhosa) and Township dance. Our performance grabbed the attention of the audience as it was outstanding and told different stories about culture and life in general. It was a short theatre production that received honour and appreciation from the audience.

P-YEP is made up of individuals who are not only young but also gifted. They work hard to show off their different talents and this has helped some discover the potential and abilities they never thought they had.

Through this, we are able to carry out the vision of the organisation which is to use performing arts to help young people to unleash and release their ultimate potential.
